KUALA LUMPUR: Ummi Hammimah (pic) was glowing at the Velodrome Rakyat after winning three gold medals for Terengganu yesterday.
She was first to cross the finish line in the keirin. The track cyclist dedicated her wins to her family and her State.

"All this while, my main motivation was the support I received from my family and the Terengganu folks. So this is for them," she said.

Ummi had earlier won the team sprint with Zahraa Anuawar, and before that, she also won the gold in team pursuit.

She also thanked her partner Zahraa, who finished fourth in the keirin category and helped Ummi win by playing spoiler to prevent Perlis rider Ju Pha Som Net from passing.

"It was our strategy," she said.

The Perlis team lodged a protest but it was rejected.

Meanwhile, Nurul Ahmar Badeuzzaman of Selangor, who was the best finisher in the semifinals, failed to win a medal as she could only manage fifth place.
