KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrated Malaysian cyclist Daud Ibrahim would have loved to see his son Fakhruddin be as good as he was at the prime of his career.

But sadly, Daud passed away in a road accident in Johor last November when his car was rammed from behind by a lorry.

Target set: Fakhruddin will be competing in five events at Sukma but he will be concentrating on the sprints to win gold.
Daud's record as a gold medallist for Malaysia since the 1970 Bangkok Asian Games was only ended by Azizulhasni Awang in Guangzhou last year.

And Fakhruddin wants to honour the memory of his late father by bagging his first Sukma gold medal for Johor in track cycling next week.
