FOURTEEN records fell in the Perak Open and Junior athletics meet at the Perak Stadium over the weekend, the first competition this year for athletes to gauge their performances.
In the women's 100m, four national athletes competing under the MAAU banner shattered the 10-year-old mark of 12.00s set by Carol Lucia Alfred.

The event was won by Norjannah Hafiszah Jamaluddin with a time of 11.89s, followed by Yee Yi Ling (11.96s) and third placed Siti Zubaidah Adabi (11.97s).

Siti Fatimah Mohd also recorded a time better than the previous record with 11.98s.

The women's 200 metres, set by Carol in 1999, was won in record time, 25.04s, by national sprinter Nurul Sarah Abd Kadir.

The men's and junior 200m also saw new times with MAAU's Md Ikhwan Nor clocking 21.57s to erase the old time of 21.63s set by Azmi Ibrahim in 2001.

Md Putera Md Amin from Sabah clocked 22.7s to rewrite the junior record set by Mohd Al-Amin Radzi from Larut, Matang and Selama in 2003.

New times were also registered in three of the four hurdles events. Nursheena Raja of MAAU took the 100m hurdles gold in 14.15s, which cracked the record of 14.7s set by Moh Siew Wei in 1999.

In the men's 110m hurdles, national athlete Reyzamshah stopped the clock at 14.32s to better the previous time of 14.35s set by Muhd Faiz Mohamad in 2002.

Bukit Jalil Sports School's Alif Asyraf set a new mark in the junior category when he clocked 14.42s against the previous record of 15.51s.

A 22-year-old record was also bettered when Aseny Asik of Armed Forces heaved the shot putt to a distance of 12.52m to erase the mark of 12.18m set by Ng Puay Shun in 1989.

Triple jumper Noor Amirah Mohd Nafiah leapt 13.14m to break the record of 12.81m set by Siti Zubaidah Adabi in 2007.
