KUALA LUMPUR: National junior gymnast Shasangari
Sivaneswary clinched two golds and a silver to emerge
the big winner in the juniors category at the Gymnastics
Carnival Intercity Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition at
Gym 1 in Bukit Jalil.
Shasangari’s haul on Sunday included the all-important
individual all-around title which she easily wrapped up
with a combined score of 53.649 ahead of Japan’s Akari
Dozono (50.233) and fellow Malaysian Izzah Amzan (49.750).
Shasangari, 14, picked up where she left off on Saturday
when she won the gold medal in the clubs event with a
score of 13.200, ahead of team-mate Koi Sei Yan
(12.800) and Izzah Amzan (12.750).
However, the diminutive Izzah was not to be discounted
as she pipped Shasangari to the gold in the ribbon event
after scoring 12.750 to the latter’s 12.700. Sei Yan was third
with a 12.450 total.
In the seniors category, Amy Kwan Dict Weng was on fire,
landing both the clubs and ribbon titles in style.
The 19-year-old was in her element in the ribbon, scoring
15.150 to finish well ahead of team-mate Wong Poh San
(12.750) and Fatin Zakirah Jalany Zain Jalany (11.950).
Amy’s two wins on Sunday and in the hoop event on Saturday
saw her stroll away with the individual all-around title with a
combined score of 56.383 points. It was an all-Malaysian
affair again as Poh San (51.816) and Fatin (50.416) completed
 the podium.
