NATIONAL Sports Council (NSC) official Harun Osman, serving as a liaison officer for the Malaysian contingent, died in Palembang yesterday.
Harun was arranging transportation for the national athletes at the Sultan Badaruddin II Airport despite having complained of chest pains earlier in the day.
Malaysia's deputy Chef-de-Mission Datuk Syed Mustaffa Syed Ali said Harun decided to continue with his duties despite the discomfort.
Harun collapsed at about 5pm (Indonesian time) and was taken to the R.S. Myria Hospital but doctors pronounced him dead about 6pm.
Harun's remains will be flown back today.
